SUMMARY:Youth Get Scary + Food!
DESCRIPTION:“Adultism is ‘the power adults have over children. More narrowly\, adultism is defined as ‘prejudice and accompanying systematic discrimination against young people.'”\n\n  \nGENTLE/RADICAL invite all young people to a Halloween night of food\, short films and discussion for and about young people. We want to start a conversation about what young people want to see happening in our city. \nHow do we make spaces for you as young people?\nHow does our culture reflect and support you?\nHow can your voices be heard\, how can adults listen? \nThis event is a chance for young people\, and those who work with you\, to get together and discuss what a radical future for young people might look like. \nIt’s Halloween\, so our film shorts are themed around some scary stuff: ghosts\, ghouls\, but also some of the scary things young people are facing today – from police checks to lack of job opportunities\, from body image to Islamophobia… \nThis get together is about watching short films\, sharing food\, and discussing your aspirations\, frustrations\, and how to deal with the challenges of living in a society that doesn’t know how to value your voice \n

SUMMARY:Technical Ambassadors Training
DESCRIPTION:Gentle/Radical are delighted to be teaming up with Film Hub Wales and the Independent Cinema Office to host a FREE workshop on the technical aspects of pop-up film projection and presentation. \nThis is a half day course\, offering women the opportunity to learn and become confident in how to technically set up and use projection and screening equipment to run our pop-up film events. This will be an exciting\, interactive workshop led by an experienced and highly skilled projectionist from the Independent Cinema Office and Chapter Arts Centre. \nWe are keen to develop a group of confident technicians with the skills to set up and use a projector\, learn how to screen films in a pop-up setting\, and fix any technical problems that may crop up during film screenings. We hope that this training will lead in the future to more paid opportunities within the Film Club for female film technicians. \nPlaces on this half day workshop are FREE and a creche will be provided on site\, for women with small children.

SUMMARY:Conflict Resolution Training with Alternatives to Violence Wales #1
DESCRIPTION:Gentle/Radical are delighted to be teaming with the ALTERNATIVES TO VIOLENCE (AVP) Project Wales to bring their FREE renowned conflict resolution training to WOMEN in Cardiff\, this September. \nOver a weekend\, AVP will train people in powerful and effective ways to deal with conflict in daily life – from work situations\, to family tensions\, to inter-personal relationships. Whilst the AVP Workshop Leaders will do some talking\, this will mainly be an interactive workshop\, with participants invited to talk in pairs\, and small and large groups as part of a series of group activities and exercises. \nWHAT DO WE MEAN BY ‘CONFLICT’?\n‘Conflict’ means those times we don’t agree with someone\, or get annoyed or upset because we’re not getting what we want; or not getting what we need. By conflict\, we don’t just mean wars – conflict is part of everyday life and involves struggles with ourselves as much as with each other. Learning how to handle conflict and communicate better is important for all of us\, so we can have stronger relationships with friends\, family members\, colleagues\, comrades – and even those we don’t know!
