Imagination Forum #3

10th May 2018 @ 6:00 pm

FREE

For our third Imagination Forum, Gentle/Radical are delighted to welcome invited guest speakers SANDRA SHAKESPEARE of MUSEUM DETOX & TEJU ADELEYE, to present and share their thoughts on decolonising, the arts and radical futures.

Broadcaster and journalist Tej Adeleye is Programme Coordinator at Sound Connections, having previously worked in a variety of social justice, youth arts and media organisations. She is also a journalist and radio show host (you can tune in Sunday mornings to NTS Radio for her show ‘Floating Roofs’ for interviews, jazz and worldwide folk), and most recently hosted a show for International Women’s Day in solidarity with the hunger strike at Yarlswood Detention Centre.

Sandra Shakespeare is a Clore Cultural Leadership Fellow with expertise in developing participatory programmes and events across the arts and heritage sectors. She has over 12 years’ experience delivering creative projects to engage public and diverse audiences, including work for the Asiko International Arts School led by the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Nigeria. Sandra is a member of MUSEUM DETOX – founded in 2014 by a small group of senior BAME museum and heritage professionals – and now a collective network of more than 100 BAME workers at major cultural and heritage institutions in the UK.

Presentations from Teju and Sandra will be followed by Q and A and discussion, including where and how we might want to take the Imagination Forum forward.
