Sonia Hughes: Reclaim the Lane

As part of gentle/radical’s Riverside project SLOWNESS AS A BRIDGE, artist Sonia Hughes has been working with neighbours on De Burgh Street. Sonia’s been asking what it means to be a neighbour. She hasn’t come up with any hard and fast answers. But she has found out that the back lanes are a bit of a problem, where they used to be a place for meeting, playing and sharing.
On Saturday 14th October Sonia and some of the neighbours are going to RECLAIM THE LANE by hanging artworks of their memories, hopes and desires. Come and enjoy the banners, some neighbourly hospitality, cups of tea, snacks and a chat. And maybe even a conversation about what could happen in the lanes in your area.
